How we got there - Diary of conversion from overgrown to usable (and beyond??)

Update as and when we have time, photos, inclination, etc... Note that as these pictures have been taken over several years, so some of the older photos have lower resolution and quality, due to older cameras.

The following pages contains photos and some description on the stages of completion on the task (when recorded).

Most recent additions are changes to paths and building of new large double compost bins. Updates as and when available.

Who would have thought it has been nearly 7 years since starting the allotment!

Started 27th September 2002

Lots of basic ground clearance, tip runs, burning of dead grass and plants from the overgrown original state.

Having got to a basic clearance and the immediate planting that needed to be done sorted, pruning of fruit bushes and canes tieing back, mulching and ground cover. Initial planting was replanting original and some new strawberries, new onion stock.

Then started the major clearance, in preparation for soil preparation and then slowly sorting first plantings.
